Peter McAllen & Associates offer professional advice to building designers, engineers, managers and developers on all matters relating to vertical transportation.

Current lift technology is often both complex and expensive. At the conceptual design stage of both new or existing building projects the mechanical and electrical consulting engineer plays an important role in ensuring that the various building services elements are correctly specified and fully integrated into the building design, therefore, the vertical transportation consultant also has a very important impact at the design stage of both new installations and modernisations, in order that the requirements are correctly specified.

Experience has shown that poor selection of equipment at design stage can have a very serious effect, especially when the building is fully operational. Poor lift service will seriously effect the movement of people around the building, resulting in wasted time and frustration by users. Hence, professional advice at an early stage can have a very beneficial and tangible effect on both cost and efficiency.

In recent years lift technology has advanced to such an extent that without expert knowledge of new technology or the marketing policies of the major manufacturers, the unsuspecting client can make very serious errors which in the long term may prove costly and of little or no benefit to the building manager or end user, particularly in terms of lift service and ongoing maintenance costs.

We are often commissioned to carry out extensive reports on existing installations so as to form the basis of a quality audit concerning maintenance and to provide our clients with an independent assessment of the life expectancy together with both long and short term recommendations.

Our in-house expertise enables us to provide professional advice on all aspects of lifts and related technology. This includes reporting upon and specifying both existing and proposed lift monitoring and management systems, an area which has undergone considerable growth and which can be subject to misunderstanding and underdevelopment by both existing and prospective users.

The vertical transportation consultant has, by adopting a generic approach to performance and technical specifications enabled building managers and owners to purchase equipment that meet the required performance criteria and provide the benefits of not necessarily being tied to the original manufacturer. Hence, the provision of professional advice has, in recent years provided very tangible benefits to the building managers, owners and lift users.

Our philosophy is to offer a quality and professional service to our clients and as such we have supported this by achieving ISO 9002 accreditation.
